The present study aims to investigate the characteristics that shape the learning experience during foreign language acquisition through VR headsets among undergraduate students, and how cognitive, affective, and perceptual dimensions manifest within it. Using a qualitative design, we conducted a researcherguided learning session in which undergraduates used the "Language Lab” and "Noun Town” VR applications, followed by post-session thematic analysis of interviews. The findings reveal a range of experiential characteristics, including a sense of immersion and presence, autonomy, agency and engagement, alongside challenges related to platform adaptation difficulties and usability limitations. Beyond the identification of these characteristics, the findings illuminate learners' perspectives on why they emerge. Among them, the relationship between the learning environment and learning material, the degree of freedom in the virtual space, and multisensory, movementbased learning. Thus, the study contributes practical insights and future research directions for the development of innovative learning environments that support meaningful learning, engagement, motivation, and enjoyment in foreign language learning as well as in learning in general. Keywords: Virtual Reality, Foreign Language Acquisition, Learning Experience, Interactivity, Immersion.
