At the same time, technology-enhanced learning has become increasingly integrated into higher education, particularly during the COVID-19 period. This study examined grief-literacy training, in the context of childhood bereavement, delivered through digital, technology-mediated environments for pre-service teachers. Using a qualitative approach, the study focused on the role of the digital learning environment in the learning process. Data were collected through reflections and semi-structured interviews with 32 pre-service teachers, and were analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. The analysis identified four dimensions of the digital environment that shape the learning process: an emotional dimension (digital technologies as enabling selfregulation when engaging with emotionally charged content), a social dimension (a blend of collaborative and individual learning), a cognitive dimension (experiential, active learning), and a behavioral dimension (digital technologies as enhancing accessibility and availability). The findings are discussed in relation to theories of digital learning, with an emphasis on inclusive practices. The study offers theoretical insights and practical recommendations regarding the use of technology-enhanced environments to develop grief literacy among pre-service teachers, with the aim of promoting optimal support for bereaved children in educational settings. Keywords: Grief literacy; Digital learning; Childhood bereavement, Death Education; Pre-service teachers.
