הקורס יתאר את המאורעות ההיסטוריים ויספק לסטודנטים הבנה כללית של הסכסוך הישראלי-ערבי ומרכיביו מאז 1882 ועד סמוך להווה. הקורס יפתח בשורשי הסכסוך: הרקע ההיסטורי, התפתחות התנועה הציונית ולאחר מכן הופעת התנועה הלאומית הערבית-פלסטינית. בהמשך, נעסוק בהיסטוריה של הסכסוך בשני מעגלים: המעגל היהודי-ציוני מול הערבי-פלסטיני מהצהרת בלפור ועד 1948, המעבר למעגל ישראלי-ערבי רחב יותר, מלחמות ישראל-ערב, תהליך השלום והחזרה ההדרגתית מאז 1967 למעגל ישראלי-פלסטיני.

10885 Introduction to the Israeli-Arab Conflict
The course describes the historical events and provides students with a general understanding of the Israeli-Arab conflict and its mechanisms from 1882 to the present.
The course begins with the origins of the conflict: the historical background, the evolution of the Zionist Movement and then the emergence of the Palestinian Arab national movement. Later, we engage with the history of the conflict in two circles: the Jewish Zionist – Palestinian Arab conflict from the Balfour declaration to 1948, transformation into a wider Israeli-Arab circle, the Israeli-Arab wars, the peace process, and the gradual return to the Israeli-Palestinian circle from 1967.
