This course is taught in English and is accredited for English Language Medium (EMI) requirements for all university degrees. The course is also part of the Open University’s “expanding knowledge” (מרחיב דעת) program. The course is designed to familiarize students with the basic elements of the various arts. The course covers a range of “fine arts” and “performing arts” such as painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, music, dance, theatre and cinema. It exposes students to works of art throughout the ages in a way that guides and facilitates the experience of art, reflects on the meaning and interpretation of a work of art, and provides tools for analysing and evaluating works of art. The aim of the course is to develop the skills required to perceive, listen, read, interpret and evaluate works of art in complex and nuanced ways. These skills are also central to everyday life and therefore this course draws attention to the way the experience of art is related to everyday life.

קורס זה עוסק בתחומי האמנויות המגוונים ביניהם ציור, פיסול, אדריכלות, ספרות, מוזיקה, מחול, תיאטרון וקולנוע. כקורס מבואי הוא מעניק כלים ומקנה ידע ראשוני לניתוח והערכה של כל יצירה אמנותית בדגש על מאפייניה הצורניים והתוכניים והקשר ביניהם. הלימוד בקורס פותח צוהר למפגש משמעותי עם אמנות – קדומה, מודרנית או עכשווית – והוא מתבצע על ידי הנחייה מודרכת והדרגתית הנוגעת באופני ההתבוננות ביצירה, קריאתה או ההקשבה לה, במתודולוגיות התואמות לפרשנותה ולבסוף, בהערכתה. התבוננות, קריאה או הקשבה, פרשנות והערכה נלמדים ביחס ליצירה האמנותית אך במקביל ניתן דגש על פעולות אלה כפעולות מרכזיות להתנהלות במרחב היום-יומי. לפיכך, בקורס זה נלמדים תחומי האמנות כמרכזיים לחיי היום-יום, כמשפיעים וכמושפעים מהם בו זמנית.
