Dr. Oren Shlomo

Dr. Oren Shlomo is a faculty member in the Department of Sociology, Political Science and Communications at the Open University. Dr. Shlomo conducts research in the fields of political geography and environmental politics in their urban context and in environments characterized by social and political conflicts. Dr. Shlomo's doctoral research examined changes in the management and control arrangements of urban infrastructures and services in East Jerusalem. The research was completed in 2016 at Ben Gurion University and won the 2016 Best Doctoral Dissertation award from the Israel Political Science Association. After completing his doctorate, Dr. Shlomo won a Fulbright scholarship and continued his research at Harvard University. Dr. Shlomo served as a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Sustainability at Reichman University, where he was involved in research on environmental policy and infrastructure management in the Tel Aviv metropolis. He was also a postdoctoral fellow at the Minerva Center for the Rule of Law in Extreme Situations in 2019-2020. Dr. Shlomo is co-editor of the book Cities of Tomorrow: Planning, Justice and Sustainability Today, published by the United Kibbutz (2014).
