ד"ר דנה קפלן

ד"ר דנה קפלן היא מרצה בכירה במחלקה לסוציולוגיה, מדע המדינה ותקשורת ובתוכנית לתואר שני בלימודי תרבות. ד"ר קפלן היא סוציולוגית של התרבות, והיא חוקרת את היחסים שבין תהליכי יצירת מעמד בתנאי הקפיטליזם הניאו־ליברלי, משטרי ערך ושיפוטים אסתטיים בחיי היום־יום. היא מתעניינת בייחוד בתרבויות מעמד הביניים, בסגנונות חיים, בפרקטיקות של גילום בגוף, ובעיקר – במין ומיניות. מחקריה האחרונים מתמקדים ביחסים הטרוסקסואליים במעמד הביניים; בתפקיד המדיה בהצגת אידיאלים מעמדיים חדשים של יצירתיות ומימוש עצמי באמצעות מושג החירות המינית; ובקשרים שבין אקספרימנטליזם מיני לתעסוקתיות. מחקריה על יופי אנושי ומעמד ולאחרונה על מין דיגיטלי כפרקטיקה חברתית מומנו על ידי הקרן הלאומית למדע. ספרה What is Sexual Capital?, שנכתב בשיתוף עם אווה אילוז, פורסם בשנת 2022 בהוצאת Polity Press ותורגם לתשע שפות. 

ד"ר קפלן עובדת היום על כמה מחקרים בסוציולוגיה דיגיטלית, כולל סטוריטלינג מיני דיגיטלי ופלטפורמיזציה של מיניות פנאי; תיעוד עצמי דיגיטלי וחיים בעוני מתמשך; סגנונות חיים מעמדיים בהקשרי משברי הסביבה והאקלים וכן על מחקר אורך חלוצי העוסק ביישום כלי בינה מלאכותית למיקרו־אנליזה פרה־לשונית מבוססת מגדר של ארכיון אור־קולי.
